The Saint Dominic Region of the Brothers of Charity had the immense blessing of welcoming Rev.Bro. Jimmi Huayta Rivera, the General Secretary of the Brothers of Charity worldwide, on his official canonical visit to Tanzania.
Rev.Bro. Jimmi arrived from Burundi on 8 September 2025 and was warmly received by the Regional Superior, Rev.Brother Gilbert, who served as the official of the visit. His arrival marked the beginning of a profound journey across all centres of the region.
During his stay, he visited the key apostolic centres of Saint Dominic Region: Aqua Beach, Kigoma Training College, Maendeleo Youth Center, Bangwe Sheltered Home, Kasaka Mental Health Care, Marumba Rehabilitation Centre, and Rumonge Deaf and Crafts Centre.
These centres embody the mission of the Brothers of Charity — offering education, rehabilitation, health services, companionship, formation, and hope to the most vulnerable. Everywhere he went, Rev.Bro. Jimmi encouraged the brothers to treasure the dignity of every person they serve.
In his message inspired by the Gospel of Saint Luke, he reminded all the brothers that: “We are missionaries. We must serve Christ in the people entrusted to us. Treat every person as a human being, never as an object.”
He emphasized spirituality, fraternity, collaboration, and a holistic approach to apostolic life. His presence brought renewed energy, unity, and missionary zeal to the entire Saint Dominic Region.
